Vegetarian Restaurant in Ubud: The Friendly Kind

Good vegetarian food shouldn’t feel like an afterthought.

We’ll be straight with you: FLOCK isn’t a strictly vegetarian kitchen. We serve rendang and fried chicken too, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. What we are is properly vegetarian-friendly — which, for most tables, is the better thing. If you’re hunting for a vegetarian restaurant in Ubud where the meat-free plates are genuinely good, rather than one sad bowl parked at the bottom of the menu, you’re in the right place. Here’s the proof.

Vegetarian Dishes Worth Ordering at FLOCK

Because our menu has to please a whole table, the vegetarian options have to earn their spot next to everything else. So they get the same care, not leftover effort.

Plant Power Burger — 89K

A chickpea and mushroom patty, sautéed mushrooms, red cabbage, grilled tomato, garlic confit and a cucumber cashew sauce, stacked in our homemade bun. This is the one that makes our whole argument for us. It sits on the menu at the same price as our beef burgers — because it’s built to compete with them, not to sit quietly underneath them. It’s also fully vegan.

Tempeh Salad Bowl — 69K

Roasted tempeh, semi-dried tomato, mixed salad, avocado and cashew, with a choice of lemon mustard or lemon thyme dressing. Protein-rich, properly Balinese, and substantial enough to be lunch rather than a side order. Vegan as it comes.

Pesto Pasta — 85K

Cashew nut, basil and Grana Padano. A real plate of pasta, not a fallback. Add half a burrata for 35K if you’re going all in. Vegetarian rather than vegan — the cheese stays.

Summer Rolls — 45K

Avocado, carrots, cucumber, green onions, Thai basil, mint and chillies, with a hoisin dip. Fresh, sharable, and gluten-free — useful if that’s part of the picture too.

Avo Toast — 69K

Sourdough, avocado, tomato salsa, sun-dried tomatoes and cilantro. One of our most-ordered breakfast plates, and it happens to be vegan without anybody having to ask for it.

Everything’s made in our kitchen with local produce, which is the difference between a vegetable plate you tolerate and one you actually want. Have a look at the full menu before you come.

Vegan Options in Ubud: More Than You’d Expect

We’ll be honest here too — FLOCK is vegetarian-friendly first, not a dedicated vegan spot. But you’re not down to one option either.

Of the plates above, the Plant Power Burger, Tempeh Salad Bowl, Avo Toast and Summer Rolls are all vegan exactly as they come — no swaps, no asking. Our Fruit Bowl (55K) is too, if you have it without the honey on the side. A few other dishes we can adapt.

The short version: tell our team what you’re after when you order, and they’ll walk you through what works rather than leaving you to decode the menu on your own.

Nobody at the Table Has to Compromise

This is the real reason a vegetarian-friendly place beats a strict one for most groups. The vegetarian in your party gets a plate that’s actually good. Everyone else orders whatever they like. And you all eat together, in one place — no negotiation, no splitting up to find somewhere that works for everybody.

Our room in central Ubud (Jl. Jatayu) is bright, roomy and walk-in-friendly, open morning to night — easy to fold around a yoga class, a market wander, or a slow afternoon with nowhere to be.

If Eating Well Is the Wider Plan

Going meat-free is often part of something bigger: eating a little better while you’re here. We’ve written more on that — where to eat healthy in Ubud, and our take on conscious dining — if that’s the direction you’re heading.

And if you want a drink to match, our house-brewed kombucha is bright, fizzy, and made right here.

What’s the best vegetarian dish at FLOCK?

The Plant Power Burger, if you want something substantial. It’s a chickpea and mushroom patty with cucumber cashew sauce in a homemade bun, priced the same as our beef burgers because it’s meant to stand next to them, not below them.

The Summer Rolls are both vegetarian and gluten-free. Tell our team about any other requirements and they’ll walk you through what works.
