The Vegetarian Restaurant in Ubud Where Everyone Eats
Brunch is less a meal than a decision — the decision not to be anywhere in particular for the next two hours. Which makes Ubud, a town organised almost entirely around not hurrying, a natural home for it. If you’re planning brunch in Ubud, the only real thing to sort out is timing, and there’s one catch worth getting out of the way first.
The brunch window closes at noon
Flock’s breakfast and brunch menu runs from 7AM to 12PM. After that the kitchen moves to the lunch and dinner menu, and the Big Breakfast Platter disappears until the next morning.
We flag this early because “all-day dining” and “all-day breakfast” aren’t the same thing, and plenty of visitors learn that the hard way somewhere in Bali. Flock is open 7AM to 10PM, and there’s always something good to eat — but if it’s brunch you’re after, come before twelve.
In practice, the sweet spot sits between 9:30 and 11:30: early enough to be unhurried, late enough to feel like brunch and not breakfast. (Still working out where the line between the two actually falls? We wrote about that separately.)
What to order
Big Breakfast Platter — IDR 105,000 Sourdough, eggs your way, avocado, roasted tomato, sautéed spinach, and mushroom. The full spread, and the plate to order when you skipped dinner, walked the Campuhan ridge at sunrise, or just plan to make lunch unnecessary. It’s the closest thing Flock has to a signature brunch plate.
Eggs Benny — IDR 80,000 English muffin, sautéed spinach, poached egg, hollandaise, pickled ginger, and roasted tomato. The pickled ginger is the detail to notice — it cuts the richness of the hollandaise in a way lemon never quite manages. A good hollandaise is also the quickest tell of whether a brunch kitchen is serious, because it’s very hard to fake.
B&E — IDR 80,000 House brioche, eggs your way, sautéed mushrooms, and a choice of bacon or pan-seared chicken thigh. The savoury pick for anyone who wants nothing sweet before noon.
Breakfast Muffin — IDR 80,000 English muffin, beef patty, cheddar, egg, onion rings, spinach, and hollandaise. A lot more substantial than it sounds.
Avo Toast — IDR 80,000 Sourdough, avocado, tomato salsa, sun-dried tomatoes, and cilantro. Vegan, and generously loaded.
Something sweet for the table Order one sweet plate and share it. French Toast (IDR 75,000) — house brioche, chocolate ganache, banana, strawberry, crumble, and cream chantilly — or Kaya Toast (IDR 55,000), brioche with house-made kaya jam and butter, which is the quietly underrated one. This, to our minds, is the right way to do brunch: one savoury each, one sweet between everyone.
The coffee
Brunch runs on coffee, and when the coffee is an afterthought, so is the brunch. Flock’s coffee is built around two house blends. Kemade is the floral, fruity one — Bali natural, Colombia Supremo, and Ethiopia Guji, with rose hip and butterscotch notes. Karasu is the chocolatey, nutty one — Brazil Royale and Colombia Popayan Reserve, with dark chocolate, almond, and caramel. Tell the barista which way you lean and they’ll steer you.
If you want something past a flat white, order a Magic (IDR 45,000): a stronger milk coffee, less bitter than a cappuccino, and one of the more rewarding things on the list. There’s also a rotating single-origin filter, on for a limited time only, that’s worth asking about.
Not drinking coffee? The Breakfast Negroni mocktail (IDR 60,000) — house-made cold brew, bitters, peach, tartaric, and orange — is the most brunch-ish thing on the menu that isn’t a coffee.

Brunch doesn’t need to be a production. It needs good food, good coffee, and somewhere that’ll let you stay a while. Ubud is very good at the third part. We try to be good at the other two.
